Mr Nkoloma is a distinguished technologist, innovator, and public sector leader with extensive experience in telecommunications, information technology, and communications regulation.

The Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA)  has announced that the Republic of Malawi has assumed the Chairpersonship of CRASA following the15th CRASA Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Lilongwe, Malawi, from 16th to17th April 2026.

MACRA is represented in this capacity by its Director General, Mr Mayamiko Nkoloma, who will exercise the Chairpersonship of CRASA on behalf of Malawi and MACRA, providing leadership to the Association as it advances regional cooperation and regulatory harmonisation within the communications sector across the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Mr Nkoloma is a distinguished technologist, innovator, and public sector leader with extensive experience in telecommunications, information technology, and communications regulation. As Director General of MACRA, he has played a key role in advancing Malawi’s digital transformation agenda and strengthening the country’s communications sector.

He holds a Master of Science in Wireless Communication from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom and a Master of Technology in Advanced Information Technology (Telecommunications and Networking) from the International Institute of Information Technology in India. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Malawi Polytechnic. Mr Nkoloma is currently in the final stages of completing his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Innovation and Development at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST).

Malawi’s assumption of the CRASA Chairpersonship, through Mr Nkoloma, comes at a pivotal time for the region as regulators work collectively to address emerging challenges and opportunities presented by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital trade, and next generation communications networks.

CRASA looks forward to the contribution of Malawi and MACRA in further strengthening regional collaboration among communications regulators and advancing the Association’s mandate of promoting harmonised regulatory frameworks and best practices throughout the SADC region. Mr Nkoloma’s wealth of experience and expertise will be a valuable asset to the Association during this tenure.
