According to Zamtel, the initiative is intended to ensure that technology serves as a tool for inclusion—connecting people not just to the internet, but also to learning opportunities, skills development, and improved independence.

Zamtel  has announced a new initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide by providing 12 months of internet connectivity support to the Zambia Library, Cultural and Skills Centre for the Visually Impaired.

The handover ceremony, held earlier this week, highlights the company’s commitment to digital inclusion and equal access to technology. The supported centre plays an important role in empowering both visually impaired and sighted learners through services such as braille instruction, ICT training, mobility support, and access to educational materials.

According to Zamtel, the initiative is intended to ensure that technology serves as a tool for inclusion—connecting people not just to the internet, but also to learning opportunities, skills development, and improved independence.

The company emphasized that digital transformation should be accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability, reinforcing its broader goal of making connectivity a driver of social and educational empowerment in Zambia.
