Morocco Uses Training and Digital Tools to Expand Amazigh Public Services

Morocco is advancing efforts to strengthen the use of the Amazigh language in public administration following the conclusion of a specialized training program for government employees. The initiative was overseen by Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and Ahmed Boukous during a meeting focused on implementing the official status of Amazigh within government institutions.

The training program, organized through a partnership between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform  and the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, benefited 120 public sector employees from ministerial departments, constitutional bodies, and public institutions. The course aimed to enhance communication skills in Amazigh and strengthen the capacity of public servants to provide more inclusive and accessible services.

Speaking at the event, Minister Seghrouchni emphasized that training is a key tool for building human resource capabilities and improving the quality of public services. She noted that integrating Amazigh into administrative processes helps bring government services closer to citizens while supporting Morocco’s commitment to preserving and promoting its cultural and linguistic diversity.

The minister also highlighted progress made under the government’s plan to implement the official status of Amazigh. Achievements include the signing of 73 partnership agreements with public institutions, the development of 25 sectoral action plans, the deployment of 491 guidance and reception tools in Amazigh, and the integration of the language into telephone services and the visual identity of public administrations. Government agencies have also translated institutional content and developed an administrative dictionary containing approximately 8,000 Amazigh administrative terms.

For his part, Ahmed Boukous underscored the importance of ongoing efforts to promote Amazigh as a fundamental component of Morocco’s national identity. He noted that the country’s language policy is rooted in the principle of unity through diversity, reinforcing Amazigh’s role as a shared cultural asset for all Moroccans.

The event concluded with the awarding of certificates to participants, reflecting continued collaboration between government institutions and cultural organizations to advance linguistic inclusion and improve citizen access to public services across Morocco.
