Telecel Ghana Unveils Digital Skills Training Program for 1,000 Students in Ashanti Region

Telecel Ghana has launched the Telecel Ashanti Codes initiative in Kumasi, aimed at expanding digital skills training for young people in the Ashanti Region. The program was officially unveiled with support from the Ashanti Regional Minister and the Kumasi Metropolitan Mayor, marking a coordinated effort between government and private sector stakeholders to strengthen digital education.
The initiative is designed to train 1,000 students by the end of the year in practical technology and innovation skills. Participants in the pilot phase are already developing hands-on projects that demonstrate applied learning, including Bluetooth-controlled robots and smart road toll systems. These projects highlight the program’s focus on turning classroom learning into real-world problem-solving.
To deliver the program effectively, Telecel Ghana is partnering with key institutions such as the Ghana Library Authority, the Ghana Education Service, and Asustem Robotics. These collaborations bring together educational infrastructure, curriculum support, and robotics expertise.
Overall, the initiative is positioned as part of broader efforts to bridge the digital divide in Ghana by equipping students with foundational and advanced STEM skills. It also aims to nurture a new generation of tech innovators capable of contributing to robotics, automation, and smart infrastructure development in the country.
