ANTIC Drives Push for Secure and Sovereign Internet at National DNS Forum in Cameroon
A major focus of the event is the accelerated deployment of DNSSEC technology, designed to protect users from being redirected to malicious or fraudulent websites.
Agence Nationale des Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication (ANTIC) has highlighted its commitment to strengthening internet security, stability, and digital sovereignty as it opened the 6th National DNS Forum in Yaoundé, held from June 17 to 19, 2026.
The forum brings together key stakeholders in Cameroon’s digital ecosystem, including telecommunications operators, internet service providers, registrars, and hosting companies, to address critical challenges in the management and protection of national internet infrastructure. The discussions are centered on the theme “DNS Security and Stability: The Foundation of a High-Quality Internet in Cameroon.”
A major focus of the event is the accelerated deployment of DNSSEC technology, designed to protect users from being redirected to malicious or fraudulent websites. Following its initial rollout in 2025, stakeholders are now working toward achieving a 100% national DNSSEC validation rate by the end of 2026.
Opening the forum, ANTIC Director General Prof. Ebot Ebot Enaw emphasized the urgent need for Cameroon to transition from Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) to IPv6. He noted that IPv4’s limited address capacity and structural constraints are increasingly incompatible with the rapid expansion of connected devices and digital services.
He further highlighted that IPv6 offers a vastly expanded address space capable of supporting billions of devices, making it essential for the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), smart technologies, and secure digital services. According to him, this transition is critical not only for innovation but also for improving digital traceability and strengthening cybersecurity capabilities.
ANTIC called on all stakeholders in Cameroon’s telecommunications and internet ecosystem to accelerate the adoption of IPv6, stressing that this shift is vital for fostering innovation, enabling digital transformation, and securing the country’s long-term digital economy.
