The performance underscores the company’s resilience amid ongoing macroeconomic challenges, according to its Integrated Annual Report 2025.

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited  recorded a 2% year-on-year increase in mobile subscriptions for the financial year ended 28 February 2025, bringing its total subscriber base to 16.8 million. The performance underscores the company’s resilience amid ongoing macroeconomic challenges, according to its Integrated Annual Report 2025.

The growth was supported by continued investment in network expansion and service improvement. During the period, Econet commissioned 77 new 4G base stations and deployed 60 new 5G base stations across the country, strengthening coverage, capacity, and overall service quality.

The company also committed ZWG 3.5 billion in capital expenditure to upgrade its infrastructure. This investment included the refreshment of 546 radio access sites and the upgrading of 365 microwave access links, aimed at meeting rising demand for both data and voice services.

Econet maintained a dominant position in the market as of the first quarter of 2025, accounting for 72.85% of mobile subscribers and 80.89% of internet and data traffic in Zimbabwe. This strong market share reflects its continued leadership in the telecommunications sector.

Operationally, the company attributed its performance to a modernized network and strategic efforts to reactivate inactive users. These initiatives helped reduce churn to 2.8%, further stabilizing its subscriber base and supporting sustained growth.
