South Africa and United States Discuss Expanded Cooperation in Digital Economy

Department of Communications and Digital Technologies  has held high-level discussions with the United States Embassy in South Africa in Pretoria to explore opportunities for deeper cooperation in the digital economy.

The meeting brought together South Africa’s Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, and U.S. Ambassador to South Africa, Brent Bozell, focusing on ways to strengthen bilateral collaboration in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.

Discussions centered on key areas such as digital infrastructure investment, innovation, improved connectivity, and technology-driven economic growth. Both sides emphasized the importance of leveraging the ICT sector as a catalyst for inclusive development and long-term economic transformation.

As South Africa continues to advance its national digital transformation agenda, the engagement highlighted the growing role of strategic international partnerships in attracting investment and expanding access to digital opportunities.

The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to fostering innovation, supporting economic growth, and building a more connected and inclusive digital society that benefits citizens and communities across both countries.
