Guinea Explores Digital Infrastructure Partnership With Chinese Investors
The discussions focused on several strategic projects aimed at accelerating Guinea's digital transformation.
Guinea is seeking to strengthen its digital infrastructure and technology capabilities through potential partnerships with Chinese investors following discussions held during the Summer Davos Forum 2026 in Dalian, China.
A delegation from Guinea’s Ministry of Communication, Digital Economy and Innovation, led by Minister Mourana Soumah, held a working session with officials from CRCC11 Group to explore cooperation opportunities in digital infrastructure and audiovisual development projects.
The discussions focused on several strategic projects aimed at accelerating Guinea’s digital transformation. Among the priorities discussed were the modernization and rehabilitation of broadcasting centres, the expansion of national digital infrastructure and efforts to improve connectivity in underserved areas that currently lack adequate telecommunications services.
The talks also examined the implementation of the country’s technopole project, which forms part of Guinea’s broader Simandou 2040 development vision. The initiative aims to support innovation, technology development and digital economic growth.
Another key area of discussion involved the potential development of a local digital equipment assembly industry. The parties explored opportunities to establish manufacturing and assembly activities for smartphones and other connected devices as part of the government’s strategy to strengthen domestic industrial and technological capabilities.
The proposed initiatives align with Guinea’s efforts to expand digital access, support local technology industries and reduce dependence on imported technology products. Developing local manufacturing capabilities could also create employment opportunities and strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.
Following the meeting, both parties agreed to continue technical discussions to evaluate practical opportunities for collaboration and determine the framework for potential partnerships.
The engagement reflects Guinea’s broader ambition to attract international investment into its digital economy while supporting infrastructure development, technological innovation and economic diversification. As African countries increasingly prioritize digital transformation, partnerships with international technology and infrastructure companies are becoming an important component of national development strategies.
