Kenya Advances Digital Transformation With New Community Digital Hubs

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Authority has intensified efforts to promote digital skills development in Kenya by conducting digital literacy and awareness programmes at community digital hubs in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County.
The agency is currently engaging residents at the Passenga, Mirangine and Wiyumiririe digital hubs, where it is providing digital skills training and creating awareness about opportunities available through the centres ahead of their official launch.
The initiative forms part of the Kenyan government’s broader digital transformation agenda, which aims to equip citizens with the skills needed to participate in an increasingly digital economy. The programme seeks to improve digital inclusion by providing communities with access to technology, training and digital services.
The official launch of the digital hubs is expected to be presided over by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo Gitau. The launch is anticipated to highlight the government’s commitment to expanding digital infrastructure and strengthening digital literacy across the country.
According to the ICT Authority, the hubs are designed to empower young people and local communities by providing opportunities to acquire practical digital skills that can improve employability, entrepreneurship and access to online services.
The initiative aligns with Kenya’s efforts to build a digitally enabled population and expand access to technology beyond major urban centres. Community digital hubs have increasingly become important platforms for delivering digital training, promoting innovation and supporting economic opportunities at the local level.
As Kenya advances its digital transformation agenda, investments in digital skills and community technology centres are expected to play a critical role in preparing citizens for opportunities in the digital economy and supporting inclusive growth across the country.
