The discussions involved Gabon's Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation and the Director General of China's international development cooperation agency, with both sides reaffirming their willingness to deepen cooperation in the digital and technological sectors.

The Government of Gabon has announced a renewed commitment to strengthening its digital partnership with China following a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of New Champions in Dalian. The discussions involved Gabon’s Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation  and the Director General of China’s international development cooperation agency,  with both sides reaffirming their willingness to deepen cooperation in the digital and technological sectors.

The meeting focused on expanding bilateral collaboration in areas such as digital transformation, innovation, and strategic technological infrastructure. Officials discussed major global trends in innovation and digital geopolitics, highlighting the importance of international partnerships in advancing national digital development agendas.

Several priority areas were examined during the talks, including improving connectivity, strengthening data sovereignty, and developing infrastructure for hosting critical digital services. The two countries also explored ways to enhance institutional capacity, support sustainable public administration, and accelerate Gabon’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.

According to the Gabonese government, the partnership aims to promote concrete results through technology transfer, skills development, and investments in high-impact digital infrastructure. These initiatives are intended to support the country’s long-term digital ambitions while building local expertise and strengthening national technological capabilities.

The announcement also reflects Gabon’s broader strategy of using international cooperation to advance its modernization agenda. Officials stated that these efforts are consistent with the vision of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, whose administration has emphasized economic development, institutional reform, and digital transformation as key national priorities.

While no specific agreements, investment figures, or implementation timelines were announced, the meeting demonstrates the continued strengthening of relations between Gabon and China in the digital sector. Additional details regarding future projects and cooperation initiatives may emerge as discussions between the two countries progress.
