France Reaffirms Support for Central African Republic’s Digital Transformation
The discussions explored opportunities to expand collaboration in key areas of the digital economy, including initiatives involving French companies and operators already active in the country.
France has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Central African Republic’s digital transformation following high-level discussions between Minister of Digital Economy, Posts and Telecommunications Roger Andjalandji and a French delegation led by Ambassador Bruno Foucher in Bangui. The meeting, held on June 26, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the digital sector, which both countries consider strategic to the Central African Republic’s economic development.
The discussions explored opportunities to expand collaboration in key areas of the digital economy, including initiatives involving French companies and operators already active in the country. Evelyne Fragé, Head of the Regional Economic Service based in Yaoundé, who was making her first official visit to the Central African Republic since taking office, said the talks identified new avenues for cooperation to support the country’s digital ambitions.
Fragé reaffirmed France’s commitment to accompanying the Central African Republic in developing its digital sector, describing it as a strategic priority. She also emphasized the importance of investing in human capital, noting that the country has a growing number of young entrepreneurs and startups that require training and skills development to succeed in the digital economy.
She highlighted existing professional training programmes supported by the French Embassy’s Cooperation and Cultural Action Service and said similar initiatives should be extended to the digital sector. Both sides agreed that strengthening digital skills, innovation and entrepreneurship will be key to accelerating the Central African Republic’s digital transformation and supporting sustainable economic growth.
