Smart Africa and Zambia Advance Digital Entrepreneurship Policy Through Stakeholder Workshop
Participants reviewed the assessment's findings, identified policy priorities and regulatory gaps, assessed progress on the proposed Startup Bill, and explored ways to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Smart Africa, in partnership with Zambia’s Ministry of Technology and Science, has convened a national stakeholder validation workshop in Lusaka to advance the country’s Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Policy. The workshop brought together government officials, private sector representatives, entrepreneurs, and other key stakeholders to validate the findings of Zambia’s Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Country Assessment.
Participants reviewed the assessment’s findings, identified policy priorities and regulatory gaps, assessed progress on the proposed Startup Bill, and explored ways to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors. The discussions also focused on developing practical recommendations aimed at creating a more enabling environment for digital entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup growth across Zambia.
According to Smart Africa, the validation workshop marks a significant milestone in developing evidence-based policy recommendations that will support the country’s innovation ecosystem. The initiative is part of the Africa-Europe Digital Innovation Bridge (AEDIB 2.0), a programme designed to help African countries strengthen digital entrepreneurship and innovation through policy dialogue, stakeholder engagement, and regional cooperation.
