Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and identifying strategic investment opportunities that will support Zambia's broader digital transformation efforts within the health sector.

The SMART Zambia Institute  has taken a step toward advancing Zambia’s digital health agenda following high-level discussions with the Global Fund  and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)  on expanding investment in technology-driven healthcare.

The meeting, held at the SMART Zambia Institute headquarters in Lusaka, brought together Acting National Coordinator Kasali Musenge and a delegation led by Dr. Bertha Simwaka, Senior Fund Portfolio Manager at the Global Fund, alongside members of the Global Fund country team and representatives from the UNDP.

Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and identifying strategic investment opportunities that will support Zambia’s broader digital transformation efforts within the health sector. The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to leverage digital technologies to improve healthcare delivery and build more resilient health systems.

SMART Zambia said the partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of digital health solutions that enhance service delivery, improve operational efficiency, and expand equitable access to healthcare services across the country.

Musenge welcomed the collaboration, acknowledging the Global Fund delegation’s commitment to advancing digital health initiatives in Zambia. The Institute reaffirmed its commitment to working with development partners to deploy innovative technologies that strengthen healthcare systems and improve health outcomes for citizens.

The engagement underscores Zambia’s growing focus on integrating digital technologies into the health sector as part of its wider national digital transformation strategy.
