Mozambique’s Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation , América Muchanga, has called for accelerated implementation of the country’s digital transformation agenda, describing it as a key driver of state modernization, economic growth and improved public service delivery.
Speaking at the opening of the II Sector Coordinating Council in Chidenguele, Gaza Province, Muchanga said information and communication technologies are critical to enhancing the efficiency of government services, reducing operational costs and bringing public administration closer to citizens. The meeting, which runs until July 3, brings together government officials, technical experts and development partners to review the sector’s performance and align priorities for the next phase of Mozambique’s digital transformation.

He also called for stronger institutional coordination to accelerate strategic initiatives, particularly the expansion of digital connectivity, improved interoperability between government systems and the deployment of inclusive technologies that guarantee universal access to public services regardless of citizens’ location.
Held under the theme “Accelerating Digital Transformation to Serve the Citizen Wherever They Are,” the council is providing a platform for stakeholders to assess progress, address existing challenges and define priorities for implementing digital transformation policies across the country.
