Raafat Hendy has held talks with senior executives from Ernst & Young (EY) MENA to discuss the company’s expansion plans in Egypt, including the establishment of a regional Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) delivery centre that will serve clients across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
The meeting followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency and EY MENA, which sets out a framework for expanding the company’s operations in Egypt, developing local digital talent and strengthening the country’s capacity to export technology and consulting services. The expansion is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs in consulting and advanced technology services over the next three years.
During the discussions, Hendy said the decision to establish EY MENA’s regional ITO hub in Egypt reflects the country’s growing attractiveness as a destination for global investment in offshore technology services. He noted that the expansion highlights the competitiveness of Egypt’s outsourcing sector and its ability to attract multinational companies offering high-value digital services, while boosting technology exports and creating specialised employment opportunities.
The planned delivery centre will provide a broad range of services from Egypt, including business consulting, risk management, human resources consulting and organisational transformation. It will also deliver advanced technology solutions covering cybersecurity, digital engineering, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), business platforms and digital transformation strategy for clients throughout the MENA region.
Omar Odeh described Egypt as a strategic hub for the company, citing its skilled young workforce, advanced digital infrastructure and geographic position linking regional and international markets. He added that the agreement with ITIDA reinforces EY MENA’s long-term commitment to Egypt by supporting knowledge transfer, expanding local capabilities and preparing Egyptian professionals to participate in major digital transformation projects across the region.
ITIDA Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Elzaher said the agency remains committed to facilitating the expansion of global technology companies in Egypt by investing in skills development and preparing young professionals to deliver value-added digital services for regional and global markets. He noted that EY MENA’s investment further strengthens Egypt’s position as a competitive outsourcing destination supported by a strong engineering talent base.
Meanwhile, Tamer Abul Azm said the company’s expansion goes beyond business growth and is aimed at developing a new generation of Egyptian professionals equipped with world-class consulting expertise. He added that the partnership with ITIDA will enhance digital skills, improve workforce readiness and encourage more international companies to establish regional service delivery operations in Egypt.
The expansion forms part of Egypt’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional hub for technology services, digital transformation and business consulting by leveraging its skilled workforce, competitive operating environment and growing digital infrastructure.
