Algeria Launches National Digital Services Center to Strengthen Digital Sovereignty
The newly launched National Center for Digital Services is Algeria's first sovereign digital infrastructure of its kind.
Algeria has officially inaugurated the Algerian National Center for Digital Services, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen digital sovereignty and modernize its digital infrastructure.
The inauguration ceremony was led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and attended by several senior government and military officials, including Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (PNA), General Saïd Chanegriha; Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud; Commander of the First Military Region, Major General Ali Sidane; Minister and High Commissioner for Digitization, Meriem Benmouloud; and the Governor of Algiers Province, Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi.
Upon his arrival at the center’s headquarters, President Tebboune was welcomed with the national anthem and received military honors from formations representing various branches of the People’s National Army before greeting the attending officials.
The newly launched National Center for Digital Services is Algeria’s first sovereign digital infrastructure of its kind. The facility is expected to play a central role in safeguarding the country’s digital assets while supporting the government’s broader digital transformation agenda.
The center will host critical national data within Algeria, helping ensure the continuity of digital services, improve interoperability across government institutions, and enhance the efficiency of public services delivered to citizens.
Built to international standards for construction, cybersecurity, and data management, the infrastructure comprises two interconnected national data centers located in Algiers and Blida. The facilities operate in a redundant configuration that guarantees service availability of up to 99.98%, while enabling real-time data synchronization, rapid disaster recovery, and centralized management of technical incidents to ensure uninterrupted digital operations.
