The briefing focused on progress in the nationwide rollout of digital infrastructure, the establishment and equipping of Digital Hubs, and the continued expansion of broadband connectivity.

Kenya’s government has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the implementation of the Digital Superhighway programme, highlighting progress in expanding digital infrastructure and improving access to technology-driven public services across the country.

The update was provided by Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy,  John Kipchumba Tanui, during a briefing with the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Felix Koskei. The meeting also included Technopolis Development Authority Chief Executive Officer John Paul Okwiri and ICT Authority Chief Executive Officer Jessy Kiveu Maruti.

The briefing focused on progress in the nationwide rollout of digital infrastructure, the establishment and equipping of Digital Hubs, and the continued expansion of broadband connectivity. The government said these investments are improving access to public services while creating more opportunities for digital skills development, online employment, innovation and entrepreneurship.

According to the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, the discussions also reviewed how the Digital Superhighway programme is supporting Kenya’s broader digital transformation agenda by enhancing connectivity and enabling greater participation in the digital economy.

The engagement underscored the importance of accountability, coordinated implementation and sustained delivery as the government accelerates the programme under the leadership of President William Ruto. Officials noted that close collaboration among government agencies remains critical to ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and generate measurable benefits for citizens.

The government said it remains committed to building an inclusive, connected and globally competitive digital economy that expands opportunities for all Kenyans, adding that the Digital Superhighway programme is laying the foundation for the country’s long-term digital future.
