The minister gave the assurance during a meeting with the GDCL Board, management and staff, where he engaged employees on the impact of the flooding and outlined the Ministry's vision for the company's recovery and long-term growth.

Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George,  has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting jobs at Ghana Digital Centres Ltd. (GDCL),  assuring employees that no staff will be laid off following the recent flooding incident that affected the company.

The minister gave the assurance during a meeting with the GDCL Board, management and staff, where he engaged employees on the impact of the flooding and outlined the Ministry’s vision for the company’s recovery and long-term growth.

George told employees that the government remains fully committed to their welfare and job security, stressing that both temporary and permanent staff would retain their positions despite the disruption caused by the flood.

While guaranteeing employment continuity, the minister said the recovery period should serve as an opportunity to reposition GDCL for stronger performance. He called on employees to embrace a renewed sense of responsibility, describing the recovery effort as “the reset of the reset” and emphasizing that the company could no longer operate under a business-as-usual approach.

He also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting GDCL’s recovery by strengthening governance, improving operational efficiency and ensuring the company’s long-term sustainability.

George expressed confidence in the organisation’s future, noting that its existing assets provide a strong foundation for profitability. He said there was no reason for GDCL not to become a profitable enterprise and pledged that the company would continue to receive government support as it works toward a stronger and more sustainable future.
