Kenya Dispatches 18 ICT Officers to China to Advance Digital Trade and E-Commerce Cooperation
Addressing the delegation before their departure, the Principal Secretary urged the officers to represent Kenya effectively, build strategic partnerships and return with practical knowledge that can accelerate the country's digital economy ambitions.
Kenya has dispatched a delegation of 18 officers from the State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy to participate in the 2026 Silk Road E-Commerce: Connecting the World Industry Matching Activity in Shandong Province, China, as the country seeks to strengthen international collaboration in digital trade and innovation.
The delegation was flagged off by Principal Secretary for the State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, who said the programme underscores the critical role of people in driving digital transformation.
The event will bring together governments, technology companies, e-commerce platforms and industry leaders to promote collaboration on digital trade, innovation and cross-border e-commerce.
According to Tanui, the engagement builds on the Kenya–China Memorandum of Understanding on E-Commerce Cooperation and provides an opportunity to deepen bilateral ties, exchange best practices, explore investment opportunities and strengthen institutional capacity in support of Kenya’s Digital Transformation Agenda and the Digital Master Plan 2022–2032.
