Kenya Launches 117th Jitume Digital Hub to Expand Digital Access in Baringo County
The facility is designed to provide young people and the surrounding community with access to digital skills training, online employment opportunities, innovation and collaboration spaces, as well as government digital services.
Kenya has commissioned its 117th Jitume Digital Hub, further advancing the country’s efforts to expand digital inclusion and strengthen the Digital Superhighway initiative. The new facility was officially launched at the Koibatek Agricultural Training Centre (KATC) in Eldama Ravine during the Uzalendo Half Marathon 2026.
The commissioning was led by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, alongside Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui. The hub was established by the Technopolis Development Authority under the Jitume Digital Programme and connected by the ICT Authority through the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project.

The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by bringing technology-driven opportunities closer to underserved communities.
According to Eng. Tanui, each new Jitume Digital Hub reinforces the government’s commitment to building an inclusive digital economy by widening access to technology, supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, and equipping more Kenyans with the digital skills needed to participate in the country’s growing digital economy.
The latest hub forms part of Kenya’s broader strategy to accelerate digital transformation and ensure that communities across the country can benefit from improved connectivity, digital services and emerging economic opportunities.
