According to the NCA, the collaborative approach adopted during the workshop will provide a strong foundation for the successful implementation of the project.

The National Communication Authority (NCA)  of South Sudan has concluded a two-day inception workshop to kick-start the development of the country’s National Spectrum Management and 5G Strategy, marking a significant step toward the deployment of next-generation mobile technology.

The workshop brought together representatives from the Ministry of ICT and Postal Services of South Sudan, the Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (EA-RDIP), and an expert team led by telecommunications consultant Professor William Webb. The sessions focused on establishing the framework that will guide the country’s spectrum management and 5G rollout strategy.

Participants reviewed international best practices for 5G deployment and developed a practical implementation roadmap covering methodology, work planning, stakeholder engagement, governance structures and the information required to support the introduction of reliable next-generation mobile services across South Sudan.

Beyond technical planning, the discussions emphasized strengthening national cybersecurity, improving the quality of network services for consumers and creating an enabling environment to attract greater investment into the country’s technology sector.

According to the NCA, the collaborative approach adopted during the workshop will provide a strong foundation for the successful implementation of the project. The authority said the strategy is expected to help unlock the potential of 5G technology by delivering faster internet connectivity, enhanced digital infrastructure and broader economic growth across multiple sectors, benefiting citizens throughout South Sudan.
