Vercel Acquires Talent Behind Egypt’s Stakpak to Build Agentic Infrastructure
The move aligns with Vercel's strategy of expanding beyond frontend cloud services to build an agentic infrastructure platform where developers can create, deploy and manage AI agents.
Stakpak, an AI infrastructure startup founded in Egypt, has joined cloud platform company Vercel, marking a significant milestone in the startup’s journey from a bootstrapped venture to becoming part of a global technology company focused on agentic infrastructure.
Founded in 2023 by George Fahmy, Stakpak set out to develop what it describes as “self-driving infrastructure” by leveraging AI agents to automate software deployment, DevOps operations and infrastructure management. After bootstrapping for two years, the company raised its first funding round in 2024 before relocating its operations to San Francisco.
During its development, Stakpak built an open-source agent harness, a production-ready DevOps agent and AI-driven security systems designed to support autonomous infrastructure management. The company said its small engineering team developed and deployed production AI agents while introducing new capabilities ahead of broader industry adoption.

According to the company, the vision is to enable infrastructure that can increasingly operate autonomously through AI-powered systems.
Announcing the development, founder George Fahmy said the company was excited to contribute to Vercel’s vision of making self-driving infrastructure possible at scale. He also reflected on Stakpak’s journey from its origins in Egypt, thanking early investors including P1 Ventures, 500 Global and Digital Currency Group, as well as the open-source community that supported the growth of its DevOps platform.
The development highlights the growing contribution of African-founded AI startups to the global artificial intelligence ecosystem and underscores increasing international interest in technologies that automate software development and cloud infrastructure management.
