Uganda’s ICT Ministry Receives 100 Computers from dfcu to Boost Digital Learning
The donation builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry and dfcu last year and is intended to strengthen digital inclusion by providing schools with the technology needed to support teaching, learning, and digital skills development.
Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance has received 100 computers from dfcu Group and the dfcu Foundation as part of a partnership aimed at expanding access to digital education in underserved communities across the country.
The donation builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry and dfcu last year and is intended to strengthen digital inclusion by providing schools with the technology needed to support teaching, learning, and digital skills development. The computers will help equip learners with practical ICT skills, preparing them for opportunities in an increasingly digital economy.
According to the Ministry, the initiative is part of broader efforts to bridge Uganda’s digital divide by ensuring that students in underserved communities have greater access to technology and the resources required to develop future-ready skills.
Beyond supporting digital education, the partnership also contributes to community development through the Parish Development Model (PDM). Under the collaboration, dfcu will provide financial management training to Parish Chiefs and local Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisations (SACCOs), helping strengthen financial literacy and improve the management of community development initiatives.
The Ministry said the collaboration demonstrates the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing Uganda’s digital transformation agenda while promoting inclusive development through technology access, digital skills training, and financial empowerment at the community level.
