MTN South Africa to Invest Over R150 Million in North West Network Expansion
MTN said it remains committed to working with government and strategic partners to promote nation-building, stimulate economic growth and ensure more South Africans benefit from the opportunities created by digital connectivity.
MTN South Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the North West province’s development through infrastructure investment and digital inclusion initiatives following a high-level meeting with provincial leaders.
The company’s Executive Committee, led by Deputy CEO Yolanda Cuba, met with North West Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi and the Provincial Executive as part of MTN’s stakeholder engagement programme aimed at strengthening collaboration and aligning with the province’s development priorities.
As part of its 2026 investment plans, MTN South Africa will invest more than R150 million to upgrade and expand network infrastructure across the North West. The project will enhance connectivity at more than 1,000 network towers while extending 4G and 5G coverage to additional communities across the province.
Beyond network expansion, MTN South Africa is advancing digital inclusion through the MTN South Africa Foundation. The foundation continues to invest in education, digital skills development and youth empowerment, supporting initiatives such as 37 multimedia centres, the Bojanala Teacher Centre, and the newly established Digital Skills Hub in Marikana.
