Nigeria Unites Digital Connectivity and Clean Energy in New NCC-REA Partnership

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) are set to formalise a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating digital connectivity and sustainable energy access in underserved communities across Nigeria. The collaboration will be sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The partnership brings together two key public sector institutions to promote integrated solutions that expand telecommunications infrastructure while supporting reliable and sustainable energy access. The initiative is expected to strengthen efforts to bridge the digital divide and improve connectivity in unserved and underserved areas.
According to the NCC, the collaboration marks a significant step in advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda by aligning digital infrastructure development with rural electrification initiatives. The partnership is also expected to create new opportunities for socio-economic development by improving access to communications and energy services.
The Memorandum of Understanding is scheduled to be signed on 24 July 2026 at the NCC Annex Office in Mbora, Abuja, in the presence of key stakeholders from the telecommunications and energy sectors, underscoring the government’s commitment to driving inclusive digital and sustainable development.
