UNICEF and GPE Launch Learning Data Dashboard to Improve Education in Lesotho
According to UNICEF, the programme is designed to ensure that timely, reliable learning data translates into targeted interventions, allowing teachers and education leaders to respond earlier to learners who need additional support.
UNICEF Lesotho and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) are supporting the Ministry of Education and Training to develop a Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Dashboard and Scorecards, aimed at improving learning outcomes for young children through better use of education data.
The digital platform will monitor the performance of learners in Grades 1 to 3 across numeracy, Sesotho, English and life skills. By consolidating learning data into a single, accessible system, the dashboard will enable schools, education clusters, district officials and national policymakers to identify learning gaps earlier, strengthen teacher coaching and direct resources to where they are needed most.
The initiative also includes the provision of tablets to principals in 300 project schools and cluster mentors, the installation of solar power in 25 cluster learning spaces, and capacity-building for education personnel to improve the collection, analysis and use of foundational learning data.
