Uganda has taken another step towards expanding digital public service delivery with a readiness inspection of the newly renovated Service Uganda Centres in Tororo ahead of their official launch.
The inspection was conducted by the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), the Ministry of Public Service and Posta Uganda Limited, to assess the centres’ preparedness for full operations.
The technology-enabled facility has been established with support from the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project (UDAP-GovNet), implemented under NITA-U. It forms part of a nationwide initiative to establish 19 Service Uganda Centres under the government’s One-Stop Centre model.
The centres are designed to bring a wide range of government services closer to citizens by providing an integrated platform for accessing public services through modern digital infrastructure. The initiative aims to improve service delivery by making government services more accessible, efficient and citizen-centric.
According to the government, the rollout of the Service Uganda Centres underscores its commitment to accelerating digital transformation across the public sector while improving access to essential government services for citizens throughout the country. The initiative is expected to strengthen public service delivery through the adoption of digital technologies and integrated service platforms.
