KCB Foundation Launches Digital Initiative to Empower 30,000 Kenyan Dairy Farmers
The initiative seeks to create a digitally connected dairy ecosystem by making smallholder farmers more visible within formal agricultural value chains.
KCB Foundation, in partnership with KCB Bank Kenya and Heifer International Kenya, has launched the Farmer Visibility (FaVi) initiative, a nine-month programme aimed at empowering 30,000 smallholder dairy farmers through digital identities, improved financial inclusion, and enhanced market access.
The initiative seeks to create a digitally connected dairy ecosystem by making smallholder farmers more visible within formal agricultural value chains. Through the programme, participating farmers will gain access to digital identities that will help unlock financial services, improve transaction records, and strengthen their integration into formal markets.
Speaking at the launch, KCB Foundation Managing Director Mendi Njonjo said the initiative is designed to build more resilient agricultural systems by combining technology, financial inclusion, and practical farming support.
“We are building resilient agricultural systems where smallholder farmers are visible, financially empowered, digitally connected, and fully integrated into formal markets. Through the Farmer Visibility initiative, we are combining digital innovation, financial inclusion, and practical agricultural support to help farmers increase productivity and improve household incomes.”

The programme will be implemented across Kenya’s Central, Rift Valley, and Western regions through 60 dairy cooperatives and farmer producer organizations. It aims to strengthen financial literacy, digitize farmer transactions, improve dairy productivity, and expand access to savings, credit, insurance, and input financing.
By integrating digital tools with financial services and agricultural support, the Farmer Visibility initiative is expected to foster a more inclusive, resilient, and productive dairy sector while improving household incomes for thousands of smallholder farmers across Kenya.
