Gabon Advances Tier III Datacenter Project to Strengthen Digital Infrastructure

Gabon is moving closer to strengthening its national digital infrastructure, with the country’s Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation, Mark-Alexandre Doumba, visiting the construction site of a new Tier III Carrier Hotel Datacenter being developed by ACE GABON SA.

The site inspection confirmed that construction is progressing satisfactorily, with the strategic facility expected to be completed between the end of November and the beginning of December.

Once operational, the Tier III datacenter will feature 160 racks and more than one megawatt (1 MW) of electrical capacity, providing operators, businesses and public institutions with a secure, high-performance hosting environment that meets international standards.

The Carrier Hotel will be interconnected with the submarine cable systems serving Gabon, enhancing the resilience of the country’s digital infrastructure, improving connectivity quality and supporting the local hosting of data and digital services.

Beyond colocation services, the project will also include dedicated spaces for innovation and startups, with the aim of fostering a stronger digital ecosystem and creating new opportunities for Gabonese entrepreneurs.

The initiative forms part of the Gabonese government’s broader digital transformation agenda, reinforcing its commitment to digital sovereignty, economic competitiveness and improved digital services for citizens through modern digital infrastructure.

The project is being implemented by ACE GABON SA, a state-owned company under the supervision of the Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation. The company is responsible for developing, operating and enhancing Gabon’s international connectivity infrastructure to strengthen the country’s digital sovereignty and expand access to digital services.
