Gabon Reviews Digital Transformation Progress, Sets New Priorities

Gabon’s Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation  has reviewed the progress of its key digital transformation initiatives and outlined priorities for the coming months during its final Technical Committee meeting before the start of the new administrative year.

The meeting, chaired by Mark-Alexandre Doumba, brought together the Ministry’s general directorates and supervised entities to assess ongoing projects, evaluate achievements and align on the next phase of the country’s digital agenda. The session was coordinated by Secretary General Aline Sylvie Minko-Mi-Etoua.

Discussions focused on strengthening the governance of digital projects, advancing the development of Gabix, expanding digital infrastructure, enhancing the Ministry’s institutional content strategy and addressing digital diplomacy priorities.

The committee also reviewed Gabon’s preparations for upcoming international engagements, including its candidacy for governance bodies of the International Telecommunication Union and participation in the African Digital Ministers’ Council, as part of efforts to reinforce the country’s role in shaping regional and global digital policy.

Other agenda items included progress on universal service initiatives in collaboration with Autorité de Régulation des Communications Électroniques et des Postes, measures to improve public access to and understanding of telecommunications services, and plans to strengthen training institutions overseen by the Ministry to build national digital skills.

The Ministry reaffirmed that its digital transformation strategy is aimed at improving connectivity nationwide, expanding access to high-quality digital services, modernising public administration and creating new opportunities for education, innovation and employment.

Looking ahead, the Ministry said it will continue accelerating reforms to build a more inclusive, efficient and digitally sovereign ecosystem that supports Gabon’s long-term economic development and improves the quality of life for its citizens.
