Safaricom Approves Record KES 80.13 Billion Dividend at 2026 AGM

The milestone coincides with Safaricom's 25th anniversary, underscoring the company's growth from a telecommunications operator into a leading technology and digital services provider serving customers across Kenya and Ethiopia.

Safaricom  shareholders have approved a final dividend of KES 1.15 per share for the financial year ended 31 March 2026, bringing the company’s total dividend for the year to KES 2.00 per share. The payout amounts to KES 80.13 billion, marking the largest dividend distribution in the company’s history.

The approval was announced during Safaricom’s 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM), where the company reflected on a year of strong financial and market performance. Alongside the record dividend, Safaricom reported a 50.3% increase in its share price over the financial year, while its market capitalization reached KES 1.44 trillion in the weeks leading up to the AGM.

The milestone coincides with Safaricom’s 25th anniversary, underscoring the company’s growth from a telecommunications operator into a leading technology and digital services provider serving customers across Kenya and Ethiopia.

Looking ahead, Safaricom said it remains focused on delivering long-term value to shareholders while advancing its Vision 2030 strategy to become Africa’s leading purpose-led technology company. The operator also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with governments, regulators, partners, employees, and customers to drive innovation and expand digital inclusion across its markets.
