Ghana Launches National Cyber Capacity Building Project for Community Media
The initiative aims to equip community media practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to report accurately on cybersecurity, cybercrime and emerging digital threats.
Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has launched the National Community Media Cyber Capacity Building Project in partnership with the Africa Center for Digital Transformation (ACDT) and with support from the Government of the Czech Republic through its Transformation Cooperation Programme.
The initiative aims to equip community media practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to report accurately on cybersecurity, cybercrime and emerging digital threats. It also seeks to strengthen public awareness of online safety and promote responsible digital behaviour across communities in Ghana.
According to the Cyber Security Authority, the project recognises the critical role of the media in shaping public understanding of cybersecurity issues, combating misinformation and fostering cyber resilience. By enhancing journalists’ capacity to cover cyber-related topics, the programme is expected to support more informed public discourse on digital security.
The CSA said the initiative will position journalists as strategic partners in advancing Ghana’s national cybersecurity agenda while helping citizens better understand cyber risks and adopt safer online practices.
The project forms part of broader efforts to build a cyber-aware society and strengthen Ghana’s resilience against evolving digital threats through collaboration between government, international partners and the media sector.
