The operator noted that customers experiencing any remaining service disruptions or intermittent outages can contact its customer support channels, including its call centre and retail outlets, for assistance.

UNITEL  has announced the full restoration of its core mobile services following a cyberattack that disrupted operations across Angola in late July.

In a market update issued on 6 August 2026, the operator said it had completed the restoration of its primary mobile voice, messaging, mobile data, internet access and third-party services on 5 August, following the cyberattack that occurred in the early hours of 28 July 2026.

According to the company, the attack deliberately targeted its technology infrastructure, resulting in the partial unavailability of services nationwide. UNITEL said it immediately activated its incident containment measures and business continuity plans, allowing services to be progressively restored with the support of its technical teams and technology partners.

The operator noted that customers experiencing any remaining service disruptions or intermittent outages can contact its customer support channels, including its call centre and retail outlets, for assistance.

UNITEL said it will continue carrying out optimisation, monitoring and systems normalisation activities over the coming days to ensure the stability and continuity of the restored services.

The company also confirmed that it is working with national authorities and specialised cybersecurity partners to investigate the incident and gather evidence. It said additional information will be released once the investigation reaches key conclusions and when doing so will not compromise information security or ongoing inquiries.

UNITEL thanked the Angolan government, state security and defence institutions, regulators, industry stakeholders and other organisations that provided support during the incident. The operator reaffirmed its commitment to keeping customers, regulators and the market informed while maintaining reliable, secure and high-quality telecommunications services.

The company strongly condemned the cyberattack and said its continued investments in information security and cybersecurity helped contain the incident and support the structured recovery of affected services. It also expressed appreciation to its employees and partners for their professionalism and dedication throughout the response and recovery process, while thanking customers for their understanding, trust and solidarity during the disruption.
