NCC Moves to Advance Universal Acceptance for a More Inclusive Internet
Universal Acceptance ensures that all valid domain names and email addresses are properly recognized and accepted across internet-enabled applications, devices and systems.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has invited stakeholders across Nigeria’s technology and digital ecosystem to participate in a workshop focused on Universal Acceptance (UA), an initiative aimed at promoting a more inclusive and accessible internet.
The workshop is scheduled for August 27, 2026, and will bring together participants from the technology community, academia, government institutions and other stakeholders within the digital ecosystem to discuss the adoption and implementation of Universal Acceptance.
Universal Acceptance ensures that all valid domain names and email addresses are properly recognized and accepted across internet-enabled applications, devices and systems. This helps remove technical barriers that can prevent users from accessing digital services and participating fully in the online environment.
The NCC said the workshop will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to share insights and explore practical pathways for advancing Universal Acceptance adoption in Nigeria.
The initiative is expected to support greater accessibility, encourage digital innovation and broaden participation in the digital economy by helping ensure that internet systems can accommodate a wider range of valid domain names and email addresses.
