LSETF and InnoPower Africa Launch EkoAI Academy to Train 10,000 Lagos Youths

Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) and InnoPower Africa have partnered to launch the EkoAI Academy, a free artificial intelligence skills programme aimed at equipping 10,000 young people in Lagos with practical AI skills.
The partnership was formally signed last Friday, marking the start of a programme designed to help young Lagosians develop skills relevant to employment, entrepreneurship and the evolving future of work.
According to InnoPower Africa, the programme will focus on translating access to AI skills into practical economic opportunities for young people across Lagos. The initiative is expected to take AI training beyond the signing event and into communities across the state.
EkoAI Academy will target 10,000 learners and train 100 certified trainers, creating a network capable of extending AI skills development to more young people across Lagos.
The initiative reflects growing efforts to prepare young people for an economy increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and digital technologies. By providing free practical AI training, the partners aim to improve access to emerging technology skills and support employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The launch positions EkoAI Academy as an AI skills development initiative focused on building a more AI-ready workforce in Lagos, with the partners emphasising collaboration between government and technology-focused organisations to turn AI access into practical opportunities.
