Airtel Malawi said the scholarship is intended to support the development of the country’s next generation of innovators and contribute to building a technology-driven workforce.
Airtel Malawi has announced the first 25 beneficiaries of the Airtel Nzeru Fund Tech Scholarship, a programme funded by the Airtel Africa Foundation to support young Malawians pursuing technology and science-related studies.
The beneficiaries come from 17 districts across Malawi and will undertake eight programmes at the Malawi University of Science & Technology (MUST). The programmes cover fields including Sustainable Energy Engineering, Metallurgy, Computer Systems and Cyber Security.
The scholarship programme builds on Airtel Nzeru Connect, an initiative focused on providing free internet connectivity to primary and secondary schools in Malawi. The latest programme extends the initiative from improving access to digital resources to supporting students pursuing higher education in science, technology and engineering.
Airtel Malawi said the scholarship is intended to support the development of the country’s next generation of innovators and contribute to building a technology-driven workforce.
