The promotion is designed to recognise and reward eligible M-PESA merchants for increasing their acceptance of digital payments and supporting the growth of Ethiopia’s digital economy.

M-PESA Ethiopia  has launched “Arada Enhun,” a 90-day national merchant promotion offering up to ETB 1 million in prizes and rewards as it seeks to accelerate digital payment adoption and expand digital commerce across the country.

The promotion is designed to recognise and reward eligible M-PESA merchants for increasing their acceptance of digital payments and supporting the growth of Ethiopia’s digital economy.

Under the campaign, merchants can earn opportunities to win prizes by accepting digital payments through M-PESA Scan and Pay and selling airtime and bundles through M-PESA.

Qualifying transactions generate draw codes, with merchants able to increase their chances of winning by completing more eligible transactions during the 90-day campaign period.

M-PESA Ethiopia is also highlighting its Merchant QR service, which allows merchants to accept payments from different banks and wallets through a single M-PESA Merchant QR code.

The company said the service gives customers greater flexibility in how they make payments while enabling merchants to serve a broader customer base through one interoperable payment channel.

The initiative is supported by interoperability through EthSwitch, aligning with M-PESA Ethiopia’s efforts to build a more connected digital payments ecosystem and encourage wider adoption of cashless transactions.

Through Arada Enhun, M-PESA Ethiopia is positioning merchants as key drivers of digital commerce while using incentives and interoperable payment infrastructure to encourage more businesses and consumers to adopt digital payments.
