Safaricom Ethiopia Upgrades 67+ Sites to Strengthen Southern Region Network
The upgrades cover Wolaita Sodo, Boditi, Shinshicho, Durame, Shone, Halaba, Areka, Humbo and Hadero, where increasing customer demand has placed pressure on network capacity.
Safaricom Ethiopia has strengthened its network across key towns in the Southern Region, upgrading more than 67 sites to improve service reliability and address growing network congestion and power-supply challenges.
The upgrades cover Wolaita Sodo, Boditi, Shinshicho, Durame, Shone, Halaba, Areka, Humbo and Hadero, where increasing customer demand has placed pressure on network capacity.
Safaricom Ethiopia said the improvements followed extensive engagement with customers and local communities to identify areas experiencing connectivity and power-related challenges.
After months of technical work, the upgraded sites are now delivering improved network performance and greater reliability for voice, data and SMS services, according to the company.
The network improvement project also generated local economic opportunities, creating more than 150 jobs across the Southern Region during implementation.
Safaricom Ethiopia said it will continue using customer feedback to identify service challenges and guide further network improvements.
The company has also opened new shops in areas benefiting from the network and power upgrades, bringing customer services closer to communities and improving accessibility.
Safaricom Ethiopia said its broader network expansion programme will continue across the country as it seeks to extend reliable connectivity and digital financial services to more communities and support greater digital inclusion.
