Kenya Explores Telecom Collaboration with Zhe Jiang Africa Service Centre

Kenya has explored new opportunities for collaboration in the telecommunications sector following a meeting between government officials and a delegation from the Zhe Jiang Africa Service Centre. 

Kenya’s Steve Isaboke EBS said he hosted the delegation, led by Director General Frank Xie Q, for discussions focused on potential areas of cooperation in telecommunications, including connectivity, infrastructure development and innovation.

The engagement brought together representatives from the Zhe Jiang Africa Service Centre, the Kenya Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, and the State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy.

Among those present were Zhuo Wu, President of the Kenya Chinese Chamber of Commerce, as well as Secretaries Joram Kanama for ICT, Temesi Mukani for Information and Broadcasting, Alphonce Kanunga for Telecommunications and Bernard Rotich for Data and Digital Governance.

The discussions come as Kenya continues to position digital infrastructure and connectivity as key pillars of its economic transformation. The government said partnerships of this nature can support the development of the country’s telecommunications infrastructure, encourage innovation and strengthen access to digital services.

Isaboke said Kenya welcomes partnerships that contribute to the expansion of its digital economy and support the country’s ambition of becoming a leading digital hub in Africa.
