NITDA and UNIPORT Conclude Tech Stars 2026 Training for Young Digital Innovators
The one-month programme was designed to equip primary, junior and senior secondary school students with foundational skills in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotics, coding and data science.
NITDA, in partnership with the Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering (CITE) at the University of Port Harcourt, has concluded the CITE-NITDA Tech Stars 2026 programme in Port Harcourt, completing a series of intensive ICT training programmes held across five Nigerian states.
The one-month programme was designed to equip primary, junior and senior secondary school students with foundational skills in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotics, coding and data science. The initiative aims to prepare young Nigerians to participate meaningfully in the digital economy and develop into future technology innovators.
The Port Harcourt training follows four other programmes that concluded last week in Kwara, Jigawa, Gombe and Kano states. Across the five locations, the programme exposed students to emerging technologies and practical problem-solving, supporting NITDA’s efforts to strengthen digital literacy and develop technology talent from an early age.
At the Port Harcourt closing ceremony, participants received certificates recognising their successful completion of the programme, while outstanding students were presented with prizes, including laptop computers and tablets.
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Chike Princewill Chike, congratulated the participants and encouraged them to apply the knowledge acquired during the training to develop practical solutions to socio-economic challenges.
He also urged the graduands to continue learning and exploring technology, stressing the importance of creativity and digital skills in contributing to Nigeria’s ongoing digital transformation.
