The proposed partnership is expected to contribute to digital inclusion, human capacity development and wider technology adoption within Kwali Area Council, with both parties expressing interest in developing stronger cooperation around digital skills development, ICT capacity building, youth empowerment and improved public service delivery.

Kwali Area Council  is exploring a partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)  to expand digital literacy, ICT development and technology adoption across the Federal Capital Territory.

The Executive Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali, visited NITDA in Abuja to discuss opportunities for collaboration in digital literacy, ICT development and technology adoption. The visit, which took place on June 15, 2026, was aimed at establishing stronger partnerships to improve digital awareness and the use of technology in the administration of the Area Council.

Speaking during the visit, Kwali said his experience in local government administration had reinforced the need to leverage technology to improve governance, efficiency and service delivery. He noted that the increasing importance of digital technology made it necessary to expose residents to digital opportunities while equipping council staff with relevant ICT skills.

“The world has become a global stage, and there is a need for us to engage more with technology to make our commitments and administrative processes faster and more efficient,” he said.

The Chairman also expressed the council’s readiness to partner with NITDA on workforce training, digital capacity development and the introduction of technology-driven solutions that could improve service delivery to residents of Kwali Area Council.

Representing NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director of Human Resources, Sarafa Lawal, welcomed the initiative. He described the proposed collaboration as an opportunity to deepen technology adoption and digital literacy at the grassroots.

NITDA said one of its key objectives is to ensure that 70% of Nigerians acquire digital literacy skills by 2027, adding that local governments have an important role to play in achieving the target because they are closest to the people.

The agency indicated its willingness to collaborate with Kwali Area Council to train and upskill council staff while also supporting initiatives that provide young people and other residents with relevant digital skills.

The proposed partnership is expected to contribute to digital inclusion, human capacity development and wider technology adoption within Kwali Area Council, with both parties expressing interest in developing stronger cooperation around digital skills development, ICT capacity building, youth empowerment and improved public service delivery.
