Kenya Expands Digital Literacy Programme to 10,382 Junior Schools Nationwide
More than 62,000 teachers have so far been trained nationally to integrate digital technologies into teaching and learning, according to the ICT Authority.
Kenya’s Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Phase II is continuing its nationwide rollout, expanding access to technology-enabled learning in public Junior Schools and equipping teachers with digital tools for classroom instruction.
The latest rollout took place at Nyaribo Junior School in Nyeri County, where Amb. Dr Caroline W. Karugu, Principal Secretary for the State Department for East African Community Affairs and Acting Principal Secretary for the State Department for ASALs and Regional Development, joined learners, teachers and other stakeholders to mark the programme’s progress.
More than 62,000 teachers have so far been trained nationally to integrate digital technologies into teaching and learning, according to the ICT Authority.
The second phase of the programme is targeting 10,382 public Junior Schools across all 47 counties. Through the ICT Authority, the government is providing schools with devices, connectivity and digital skills to support the integration of technology into everyday learning.
The rollout is being implemented under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), with support from the World Bank.
