NITDA Wins Two 2026 IPRA Golden World Awards for AI Crisis Management
The organisations were recognised in the Artificial Intelligence in Crisis Management and Publication categories for their work on the Crisis Communication Hub (CCHub), a national framework supported by NITDA and developed from empirical research on artificial intelligence and crisis management.
Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) , in collaboration with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) and the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), has received two awards at the 2026 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards (GWA) in Athens, Greece.
The organisations were recognised in the Artificial Intelligence in Crisis Management and Publication categories for their work on the Crisis Communication Hub (CCHub), a national framework supported by NITDA and developed from empirical research on artificial intelligence and crisis management.
The initiative focuses on using AI to strengthen crisis communication and improve the detection of misinformation and digital threats. It includes the use of AI tools for proactive social listening and crisis communication, as well as efforts to identify fake news, deepfakes and other threats to public trust.
The framework also seeks to improve coordination among stakeholders during communication emergencies by providing a structured approach to crisis response.
The awards were formally received during the global gathering at Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens by Hajiya Hadiza Umar, representing NITDA, alongside Professor Yau Sule of IMPR.
NITDA said the recognition reflects its efforts to advance digital literacy, ethical AI deployment and technology-driven communication strategies in Nigeria.
