Inuwa said social media platforms such as X, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok provide young Nigerians with spaces to express their views, but the volume of online discussions makes it difficult for government authorities to separate actionable policy ideas from noise and misinformation.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)  is set to deploy artificial intelligence and advanced digital tools to analyse inputs from Nigerian youths and translate them into concrete policy proposals for national development.

The initiative was announced by NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, during the opening ceremony of the maiden National Youth Conference at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Abuja. Inuwa said social media platforms such as X, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok provide young Nigerians with spaces to express their views, but the volume of online discussions makes it difficult for government authorities to separate actionable policy ideas from noise and misinformation.

To address this challenge, NITDA will provide the technical infrastructure needed to filter online discussions and identify actionable insights from participants. In partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development, the agency will use AI frameworks to categorise submissions into areas including digital innovation, job creation, climate action and security.

According to Inuwa, the system will create an auditable trail that allows ideas from participants to move directly from the conference floor into official policy channels. He also assured participants that their contributions would be captured and preserved throughout the process, with NITDA providing technical support across the initiative.

The NITDA chief added that the AI-driven approach would support virtual zonal sessions scheduled from October 5 to 17, 2026. The sessions are expected to enable young Nigerians across all 360 federal constituencies to participate remotely and contribute to discussions shaping the country’s future, regardless of their physical location.
