Kenya’s Konza Technopolis Secures Funding Agreement for Data Centre and Smart City Project
The agreement was signed by the authority’s chief executive officer, John Paul Okwiri, and is intended to support preparations for the project under Kenya’s public-private partnership (PPP) framework.
Kenya’s Technopolis Development Authority has signed a project preparation funding agreement with the Public-Private Partnerships Project Facilitation Fund under the National Treasury to advance the Konza Cloud Expansion and Smart City Facilities Project.
The agreement was signed by the authority’s chief executive officer, John Paul Okwiri, and is intended to support preparations for the project under Kenya’s public-private partnership (PPP) framework.
The funding will facilitate transaction advisory services, feasibility assessments and the development of an investment and implementation framework to guide the project’s execution.
The initiative is expected to strengthen Konza Technopolis’ digital infrastructure, expand its smart city capabilities and create opportunities for private-sector investment in Kenya’s digital economy.
The project forms part of ongoing efforts to develop Konza Technopolis, also known as the Silicon Savannah, as a technology and innovation hub. Through the PPP framework, the authority aims to attract private investment to support the development of digital infrastructure and smart city facilities.
