Zain Kuwait Becomes First in Region to Deploy AI Assistant for Wireless Site Engineers
The initiative, developed in collaboration with Huawei, is part of the company’s strategy to enhance network infrastructure, accelerate digital transformation, and reinforce its leadership in the telecommunications and ICT sector.
Zain Kuwait has announced the launch of its Digital Assistant for Wireless Site Engineers, becoming the first operator in the region to integrate artificial intelligence into technical operations and maintenance. The initiative, developed in collaboration with Huawei , is part of the company’s strategy to enhance network infrastructure, accelerate digital transformation, and reinforce its leadership in the telecommunications and ICT sector.
The new solution, called FME Mate, leverages large language model (LLM) technologies to identify and analyze fault causes with precision and propose instant repair solutions. With its natural language interaction feature, engineers no longer need to input complex system commands, enabling them to access fault data and connection topologies more easily. Zain reports that this capability improves fault-handling efficiency by more than 20 percent in around 90 percent of cases and is expected to reduce site downtime by over 2,250 hours annually.
“The launch of the Digital Assistant solution for wireless site engineers reflects Zain’s strategic commitment to accelerating the pace of digital transformation within our technical infrastructure, employing the latest technology solutions to enhance efficiency. It is a pivotal step toward building smarter, more efficient, and more reliable networks. Integrating artificial intelligence into our operations will bring a qualitative leap in the quality of services we offer, while boosting our network’s readiness to support Kuwait’s vision of becoming a regional hub for the digital economy. We will continue to explore more intelligent solutions with our partners to build an advanced digital ecosystem that meets future needs.”
– Daaij Al-Oud, Chief Technology Officer, Zain Kuwait
Zain noted that the introduction of the Digital Assistant marks a major step forward in applying AI to telecom operations. The solution not only enhances fault management and operational efficiency but also sets new benchmarks for intelligent maintenance across the region.
The company stated that by harnessing the power of generative AI to enable proactive operations and improve fault response times, it is ensuring service continuity and maximizing efficiency, while also paving the way for more smart applications within its network.
According to Zain, this project underscores its long-term vision of delivering advanced, future-ready digital services to consumer, corporate, and government customers, while supporting Kuwait’s ambition to become a digital economy hub.
