Lagos to Launch Telecommunication Infrastructure Regulatory System (TIRS) in 2026
The initiative reflects the Lagos State Government’s continued commitment to digital transformation and smart infrastructure development, in line with its vision to position Lagos as a technology-driven, globally competitive city.
The Lagos State Government has announced plans to launch the Telecommunication Infrastructure Regulatory System (TIRS) in 2026, a major initiative aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the state’s telecom infrastructure management.
The announcement was made by Dr. Idris Salako Elegushi, General Manager of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA). The TIRS system is scheduled for rollout in February 2026 and will be implemented by LASIMRA to streamline the permit application process for telecommunication infrastructure projects within the state.
According to the agency, TIRS will improve regulatory oversight and ensure better coordination of telecom installations across Lagos, one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing digital and economic hubs. The platform will also support the state’s efforts to expand broadband coverage, promote investment, and enhance service delivery through a modern, transparent regulatory system.
