CAMTEL aims to offer young graduates a meaningful entry point into the telecom industry while addressing the growing demand for technical expertise.

CAMTEL  has welcomed 127 young professionals into its workforce as part of the first cohort of its Professional Integration Program for Young Graduates (PIJ), an initiative designed to accelerate youth employment and strengthen operational capacity in Cameroon’s telecommunications sector.

Selected from a pool of 270 applicants drawn from top universities and institutes across the country, the recruits underwent an intensive two-week training program combining theoretical lessons with hands-on field experience. The curriculum covered core telecommunications concepts, network operations, maintenance procedures, and FTTH installation standards. Trainees were also introduced to service quality metrics, KPIs, and professional best practices.

Practical sessions formed a major part of the training, with participants engaging in copper and fiber optic installation, sleeve manufacturing, optical splicing, field testing, data interpretation, and real-time troubleshooting—providing them with direct exposure to field operations.

The PIJ initiative aligns with the national priorities outlined by President Paul Biya during his November 6, 2025 inauguration, which emphasized empowering youth and women. CAMTEL aims to offer young graduates a meaningful entry point into the telecom industry while addressing the growing demand for technical expertise.

Speaking during the official ceremony on November 25, 2025, CAMTEL’s General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, encouraged the new recruits to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic as they begin their roles within the company.

The 12-month professional internship sets clear performance goals for participants, including completing FTTH installations within three days, resolving incidents in under 24 hours, and maintaining a customer satisfaction rate of at least 95%.

Through the PIJ, CAMTEL strengthens its commitment to youth empowerment and positions itself as a key enabler in developing local talent for a rapidly evolving telecommunications industry.
