Meta Acquires AI Wearable Startup Limitless to Drive Next-Gen Personal Intelligence

December 8, 2025
2 min read

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Limitless confirmed it will stop selling devices to new customers while integrating its technology into Meta’s ecosystem.

Meta  has announced the acquisition of Limitless,  an AI wearable startup best known for its pendant that can record and transcribe conversations. This move highlights Meta’s strategy to embed advanced AI directly into consumer hardware, expanding beyond conventional app-based experiences. Limitless CEO Dan Siroker noted that the acquisition aligns with a shared vision of developing “personal superintelligence,” combining AI with wearable technology to enhance everyday interactions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Limitless confirmed it will stop selling devices to new customers while integrating its technology into Meta’s ecosystem.

The Limitless pendant, which could be worn like a necklace or clipped onto clothing, is now being phased out. Existing users will continue to receive support through an “Unlimited Plan” for at least one year. The startup’s team and technology will join Meta’s wearables division, complementing existing projects such as the Ray-Ban AI glasses and in-lens AI devices.

Industry observers say this acquisition reflects a broader trend of large tech companies absorbing early-stage AI hardware innovators. Wearable AI is increasingly becoming a strategic battleground, enabling devices to capture real-world context, provide always-on intelligence, and reshape human-computer interactions.

For Meta, Limitless represents more than just a gadget—it is a step toward creating context-aware, on-body AI companions that integrate seamlessly into daily life. This acquisition marks a clear pivot from a metaverse-first focus toward AI hardware innovation, positioning Meta at the forefront of wearable AI and laying the groundwork for the next generation of intelligent, personal devices.
