TowerCo of Africa Expands MTN Uganda Partnership with Kokumu Site Handover
The new site is expected to support MTN Uganda's network expansion efforts by improving coverage, enhancing service quality, and increasing capacity in underserved areas.
TowerCo of Africa (TOA) Uganda has officially handed over the Kokumu telecom site to MTN Uganda, reinforcing the companies’ partnership to expand mobile connectivity and strengthen digital infrastructure across Uganda.
The handover, which took place on 16 July 2026, marks another milestone in the collaboration between the two companies following their previous work in the West Nile region. The new site is expected to support MTN Uganda’s network expansion efforts by improving coverage, enhancing service quality, and increasing capacity in underserved areas.
According to TowerCo of Africa, the project highlights the importance of long-term infrastructure partnerships in enabling mobile network operators to deploy services more efficiently. By leveraging shared telecom infrastructure, operators can accelerate network rollout while reducing deployment costs and extending connectivity to more communities.
The Kokumu site is designed to deliver reliable mobile coverage, strengthen network capacity, and improve the quality of service for consumers. It will also help provide greater access to digital services for individuals, businesses, and local communities, supporting Uganda’s broader digital transformation agenda.
TowerCo of Africa noted that every new telecom site contributes to building Uganda’s digital future, emphasizing that shared infrastructure has become a key driver of sustainable network expansion and digital inclusion as demand for connectivity continues to grow.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside MTN Uganda to deliver the infrastructure needed to connect more people and support the country’s evolving digital economy.
